Describing the original Kurres in the Sydney Morning Herald, Greg Borrowman (Editor of Australian HiFi) stated " an inspired design........resulting in a sound quality that is second to none". And in his full review in Australian HiFi he said " I finished reviewing Dr Rod Crawford's Kurre loudspeaker nearly six month's ago they sound so delicious, I really haven't been able to part with them, so I haven't yet sent them back."

In the same way that the original Kurres were the top half of the original Kantus, so the Kurre 4s are the top half of the Kantu 4s. The Kurre 4s use the same 7” carbon-fibre mid-bass driver and the same ceramic dome tweeter that has led many reviewers to regard the Kantu 4 as one of the best speakers they have heard irrespective of price. And apart from the addition of a non-inductive resistor to reduce the treble level in keeping with a single mid-bass driver rather than two, they use the same very high quality crossover.

The Kurre 4s are therefore world-class stand-mount speakers with exceptional dynamics and resolving power. They can be used as superb front L&R speakers in a stereo system; or as rears with the Kantu 4s and Kurka 4 in the front, supplement by award-winning Kurlo 3 subwoofers in an awesome home-theatre system.

Greg Borrowman (editor of 'Australian HiFi') reviewed the Kurre 4s in the Sydney Morning Herald's 'the guide' of May 9-15 2005 saying: ".... There aren't too many speakers that are as well made as the Kurre 4s, or use such high quality components ...... The quality of the reproduced sound proves this attention to detail pays off. Legend's Kurre 4s combine professional studio monitor accuracy with unusually high level of clarity without losing the elusive warmth that is essential if a speaker is to sound truly musical."

And a full review of the Kurre 4s in Australian Hifi magazine June-July 2005 says
"... (the Kurre 4s) set a new benchmark for small monitor loudspeakers .... they sound magic! I actually thought long and hard about using this particular word, but after listening and re-listening to the Kurre 4s, I decided that it was entirely appropriate ..... a full, rich and incredibly dynamic sound that was insanely detailed .... through the Kurres I discovered nuances that had previously eluded me .... I was transfixed by the speed of the Kurres and their lovely atmospherics...... When you go to audition Legend's new Kurre 4s - which I sincerely hope and recommend you do - you'll find you're not so much `listening' to them as 'experiencing' them. Get ready for the experience of a lifetime."

Recently in the Audiophile Loudspeaker of the Year category of the 2005 Sound & Image awards, Legend's Kurre 4s have been “Highly Commended”. Other winners in this category were Revel’s Ultima Salons ($45,000) and B&W’s 800Ds ($35,000). With a SRP ($3,490) of less than a tenth, the Kurre 4s are “punching well above their weight” as world-class speakers.
